In early 2026 we analyzed pricing and service data from 2,211 verified pet cremation providers across all 50 states — the largest independent dataset of its kind. This report covers average costs by pet size, service type, and region; the gap between advertised and charged pricing; and which states have the fewest providers per capita.
Key findings in this report
- National median for a private cat cremation: $185 (range: $95–$390)
- Private dog cremation varies more by weight than by region — up to a 3.8× price spread
- States with fewest verified providers per 100,000 pet-owning households: Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana
- Aquamation available in 34 states — concentrated in metro areas
- 41% of providers do not publish prices publicly — up from 33% in our 2024 baseline
